One of our charity customers recently took over the operations of another charity. Names sadly can’t be mentioned due to confidentiality agreements, but as part of the due diligence process, it was identified that the existing technology was old, error prone and generally not fit for purpose. Part of their take over plans therefore included a full infrastructure refresh to bring the nearly 20 new sites up to the agreed organisational standard and ensure that they were in a sound position when vital operations resumed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As the charity’s trusted outsourced IT services provider, we were tasked with acquiring, pre-configuring and then rolling out all of the equipment to all of the new sites, ensuring that everyone could connect seamlessly and securely to the charity’s core applications on handover day. That involved imaging over 70 PC’s and laptops over 2 days using an agreed gold image. An image that included the operating system, a set of core charity applications, as well as all the necessary\u00a0network settings. We also rolled out modern, pre-configured switching and firewalls to connect to the charity’s secure connectivity backbone.<\/p>\n

As with any technology rollout, there is risk. Our team spent a great deal of time reducing that risk by ensuring that everything worked as planned before leaving our office, cutting down the time, potential disruption and resources needed at the various sites.<\/p>\n

We are pleased to report that everything went off without a hitch. The new sites are now all operational and the people on the ground are being trained and getting used to their new systems and processes so that they can hit the ground running, delivering much needed services in the coming days. We wish our charity customer all the best with their new operations and look forward to seeing the result of all the good work that they are going to be doing in the coming months and years.<\/p>\n
