“What does my business need IT Support for<\/em>?” is a question that many business leaders have to consider, especially when they get to a certain size. That question is often accompanied by a myriad of other questions, like: \u201cshould we hire a specialised managed service provider or get an internal guy?<\/em>\u201d, \u201cWhat\u2019s the WiFi password?<\/em>\u201d and \u201cIs our network secure?<\/em>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

At first, the idea of getting specialised IT support might seem like quite a frivolous expense, especially for new businesses where every saving could mean the difference between the red and the black.<\/p>\n

Besides, you already know the basics, and that\u2019s all that\u2019s needed, right? A few email accounts here, a handful of computers there, a couple suites of Microsoft Office and you\u2019re in business! You\u2019ve already done it for yourself, and all computers are all the same, so, it\u2019s just rinse and repeat isn\u2019t it? What\u2019s the point in hiring someone who\u2019s just going to tell you to \u201cturn it off and on again\u201d?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

While it\u2019s true that you may be tech savvy, and I commend you for being so, one thing you\u2019ll quickly learn is that business technology is a lot more complicated than even the most extreme home setups. Unlike at home, business tech is rarely plug-&-play, everything has to be configured to work for the business exactly how you want to use it. And that\u2019s were the IT Support guy comes in.<\/p>\n

No two businesses are the same, so why should their technology be? Many successful companies appreciate this fact, so they have dedicated technology support to wrangle their hardware and software it into the right shape for them.<\/p>\n

Over the course of this blog series, I\u2019ll be discussing many of the different aspects of IT support, and divulging some handy secrets, from why two internet connections are better than one to the benefits of having a physical firewall.<\/p>\n
